First Pakistan-South Africa Trade & Investment Seminar was held recently in South Africa. This is for the first time in last 25 years that such a conference was held. More than 25 high level officers and delegates participated in the seminar.

Mr Muhammmad Rafiq Dawood Memon, Chairman Pakistan-South Africa Commerce Forum and other Pakistani industrialists and traders played crucial role to make this event successful. The 4-day Seminar was sponsored by the government of South Africa.  The officials from both countries’ Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Commerce & Development and others participating in the seminar were of the opinion that vast potential exists for promotion of trade between the two countries. South Africa needs Pakistan’s textile, agriculture, sports, mineral resources and IT products.

Mr Saleem Shakoor, Secretary Business Forum and Mr Dr Sohail Khan, Pakistan High Commissioner to South Africa presented shields to Mr Shakeel Ahmed, Additional Secretary Agriculture Sindh, Mr Agha Zafar, Former DG Agriculture Sindh, Mr Muhammad Rafiq Majeed, Chief Executive Talha Enterprises Pakistan and Mr Muhammad Moeen Zamindar.

Trade delegation also visited the AMKA Group offices, where Mr Ismail Kala, CEO welcomed the visiting delegates. Pakistani trade delegation also called upon Mr Victor Mashabela, Chief Director of the country’s Department of Trade & Industry. Pakistan-South Africa Business Forum has also asked relevant South African official authority to allow change title of Pakistan Southern Business Chamber. Required documentation is being prepared and legal attorney of Pakistan-South Africa Business Forum will soon submit the request in this effect.
